....And it's a new year!
Hey guys, it's been a long hot min eh? i know...i can't even begin to explain.. so happy new year o! Awon Blogsville may the new year bring you joyful divine restoration in every aspect ni oruko Jesu.Amin!! Christmas was fun, i went to Nigeria and it was mad! in hip terms (lol) i had mad fun!!! So, i went to the bloggers party, it was actually nice o!..(Oh u're looking for my pictures now? tsk..tsk... ) i was prominent yet discreet, my presence was felt immensely yet i was but a mystery. Like Pico correctly asserts the dignity of man is but in his freedom, his ability to transform himself. So let me be, as i delude myself into thinking the princess (that i am) into existence.no hateration, just cheer and godwill is all i demand. Mehn, Nigeria is getting there, little by little with baby steps, hopefully we will get there before our generation becomes extinct. They are creating a new line of buses that would run throughout Lagos state, hopefully these buses would result in the removal of the other yellow buses plying the roads. The buses are state owned therein the system should be similar to a regular state transport administration, optimistically. Hopefully, these buses have a stipulated bus fee, a bus schedule ( very unlikely with the ceaseless traffic), a machine to put the money into et cetera. However, the bus system is yet to be enacted, but they have many bus stops for the new buses.
In that aspect Nigeria is changing, burgeoning even you may say, in other facets however it has remained parochial, unrelenting. Let me explicate... so it hot, but breezily so..you look out your car window and see a guy wearing an argyle vest sweater complete with a long sleeve shirt underneath...i am unperturbed, if anything it is a fad, begun stupidly by who i do not know or particularly care to find out about. But that is not the issue, neither is the fact that when i look out the other window, i see a bus conductor wearing what i perceive to be a WINTER jacket at first, but i chide my self, O Adia! you and your eyes! so i rub them and alight my spectacles upon that BEAUTIFULLY FURNISHED NOSE, and alas on closer inspection, i see.. not only is it proudly warm against the heat of the sun, it proclaims for anyone who cares to read " THE NORTH FACE". A WINTER jacket in all its rights it is. Lagos roads are marvelous, the people on them surpass even the entertainment these new hi-tech devices bring. You need but look, and this is exactly what i do.
My senses were throughly abused, i must confess, not in the way your vile minds are thinking (ok, maybe that too, i was probably a perpetrator sef) but in a way that called upon my sense of pity to withstand the gall of my amusement. it was a hot day, hot indeed, seeking air desperately i opened the car windows and my eyes were at once harassed by a woman wearing a TWEED two piece suit, flat (verily so) shoes, and a beret to jazz it all up. At first i could not contain my laughter, the first words that fell out of my mouth were "In this heat?",then the pity came, it was probably for modesty she languished..false modesty in my opinion. But i digress...
So back to the issue of Nigeria's parochialism, the instance was thus: it was a Sunday, i woke up early, and dressed for church, i wore a dress with straps referred to by many as "Spaghetti straps", it's neckline was v-shaped, plunging a little, not low enough to derail a man from his God chosen path, the only fault it might have been said to have was it exposed the back, how that is immodest i do not know (can someone pls tell me?????). So i was feeling rather cute with myself, when after church i was told by my wonderful *Deaconess* mummy that a lady came and complained about my dressing. Her words were so: "Deaconess Claire ,how can you let your daughter wear such a thing? don't you know that other children will see her and start wearing worse things? please don't allow her to wear such again" when asked what the problem was with the dress she declared " Ah! immediately i entered the church it was only her back i saw". ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so did my back have kro-kro?..what is wrong with breeze blowing me and my back in my father's house eh? Bloggers, i would have u know that i am not bountifully endowed in the massive tissues regions (of which i'm very content with what i've got) (u don't get it? chest region..still not getting it? visit a school!)...hence, i can wear the almost deepest plunger and look nice, nearly saintly. I reveal naught but SPACE. So no question about the v-neck..now for the back..i'll scry (*Charmed* word) for a pic, but it ended below the shoulder-blade bones. So maybe they are right and my mind has become so much so twisted that i cannot decipher right from wrong, modesty from immodesty, maybe over the years my narrow-mind has become broad, liberal..perhaps too liberal..or maybe they need to be more accepting, take time to smell the frangipanis, rather than die in tweed, revel in the luxury of cotton and let the sun kiss their skins! What do you reckon? BTW, Vals day....hmmmm. let's do word associations.. 2008 Val's day- terrible bore, yawn, work and study. In retrospect, 2007 Val's day- Movies, Foine Idris, Tyler Perry, Nachos and cheese, T.G.I's Fridays, 2006 Valentine's eve- (no more word associations) He said i think i've fallen for you. I said- what? He said i think i love you.I laughed and said you barely know me. I never got my Valentine gift that year..i reckon i shouldn't have laughed.

Dharma not Greg- My duty and me.
Hey peeps, what it do? it's been a while..i know.who knew i would ever be so busy?
My humanities class has recently got me pondering, thinking, and rehashing. I've established that indeed the idea of Dharma is true, my questions now drift to the issue of fulfilling my Dharma. I've begun questioning myself, does fulfilling my Dharma hold any rewards in the long run (thinking selfish? let me be), why should I subscribe to the concept? Let me elucidate, Dharma is both a Hindu and Buddhist doctrine literally meaning duty. The Concept of Dharma is plainly defined as fulfilling one's duty without looking to end results. Generally, our natural human instincts are to perform an action because there is a reward, as Newton's law succinctly states "to every action there is an equal reaction". My point is performing my duty and fulfilling Dharma means ultimately that I am not expecting or looking to the results which is virtually impossicant (impossible and cannot be). Nearly everything we do is because we are anticipating an end result, we get an education because we want the end result-a job that pays (most people at least), and we eat to fill up our bellies (end result) and avoid hunger. But then again, looking at Dharma from another perspective shows that it is beneficial in the long run. If I as a student focus and concentrate all my abilities on being the best student that i can be, in the long run even though i am not looking to the end results i still achieve them or in the case of an employee doing his best, if he is really fulfilling his duty, in the long run, expectant or non expectant, he is rewarded. So Dharma or no Dharma, what do u reckon? BTW..small tori..my babe has all of a sudden gotten the idea that she speak *fune* imag imagine! Mehn, this babe be spitting akatarized (african-american, no derogation meant) lyrics oh! ok nah, so on Sunday like dis o, gettn ready to go to church na so dis babe wan say "what r u talkn abt" only for 'im to come hala strong conc akatarisms(african american *noun*) " *wa* u talkn abt" i was like ehn? *wa*? don't try!. (yes, yes dry me. i had to try)
Ok mehn..that's it y'all, i'm off!

Has the writing bug bitten me?
Her tears fell. Softly at first, then profusely, like incessant rain. She wiped the edges of her eyes with her wrapper, sniffling all the while. The woman looked at her " I ka n'ebe akwa?" she asked. "I cho ka o fu gi o ge i di sikwa ka....." she spoke the words like she had phlegm lodging in her throat, then trailed off suddenly, looking into the sky, she clutched her red wrapper firmly to her bosom. She looked at the woman again and said in perfect English " He is not immune to tears" " Save them for when they are needed, they hold power". " He made me sad" she responded. The woman shrugged, then tightened the knot of her wrapper." E me si go m" handing her the brewed concoction she turned her back to the sobbing woman and left.

...And She Was Ethiopian
Today, I sat thinking how singular she looked. Did she know?
She had a certain beauty about her, she wore black knee length suede boots, no heels, no buckles. Did she know?
Her dark blue jeans fit snugly, her black tee thrown on without a thought to synchronization, on her ears hung earrings, not glaring not dazzling, nothing spectacular, fading pieces of metal. Did she know?
Her hair was piled atop her head, i longed to feel its texture between my fingers, discover its magic...its essence. Did she know?
Sitting still, i feigned interest in the white haired man's talk while all the time i craned my neck and inspected still... Did she know?
I searched for high cheek bones, I found none, her cheeks were flat, hollow just like mine, so what was this thing that drew me..i was captivated...i looked on. Did she know?
My eyes went to her hair again, it wasn't wooly like mine, neither was it anything like the white haired man's, it was different, in its own league, i could tell it was long. Did she know?
I wanted to free it..free it from its woven prisons..emancipate it from its braided crown that ran into a thick dark bush. Did she know?
Just then she turned, i saw her eyes then..but it was but a millisecond, i couldn't decipher their color..they were beautiful, inlaid deep in their sockets..there was a certain beauty about them..and they say beauty lieth in the eyes of the beholder.
And She was an Ethiopian.

Sometimes Life puts us in positions, we don't want to be in, we want an escape...we want to be Free, we want to have free rein, we just want to be *we*..... (is fantasy an escape route?) but in all things give thanks to God. I don't want to be like this, but in the words of Newton "To every action there is an equal reaction", i want to be the me i was, the me i am....emancipate me! Above all, i'm thankful! very thankful, i thank God for what i am, who i am, what i'm becoming..i'm thankful for the many blessings i've recieved..i'm thankful for your Mighty hand God ..i really appreciate it and i hope i show it.hmm..i think i'm becoming tres emotional...not nice! haba! I used to be called non- chalant what's happening to me? Pms? nah...probably tension, stress and anxiety...help me God to become what u want me to be..hmm...this is turning into a diary entry.
